Move Safe Stay Steady CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and sister company to Dance with Hollie.
Dedicated to helping older adults stay active, independent, and confident in their everyday lives.
The focus is on fall prevention, confidence and maintaining functional fitness.
We provide free Functional Fitness MOTs and engaging movement-based fitness sessions designed to improve strength, balance, and mobility. Our approach focuses on making activity enjoyable and accessible, using evidence based exercises to support better physical health, keeping you independent for longer.
According to CMO guidelines, older adults should aim for 150 minutes of physical activity per week, including strength and balance activities on at least two days each week.
Our Functional MOTs and exercise sessions are designed as a gentle introduction to fitness and movement, helping to bridge the gap between inactivity and regular exercise. We focus on building confidence and providing the tools and encouragement individuals need to feel comfortable taking part in activity, with the aim of supporting them to find a class or routine they can enjoy long term.
We understand that staying active isn’t just about fitness - it’s also about connection. Our sessions create a welcoming, supportive environment where people can build confidence, meet others, and feel part of a community.
By promoting preventative health and reducing the risk of falls, we aim to support individuals to live well for longer while also contributing to healthier, stronger communities.
Thanks to grant funding and community support, some sessions may be offered free of charge or at a reduced cost. As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, any surplus generated through our activities is reinvested directly back into the community, helping us provide more accessible classes, expand our services, and continue offering free Functional Fitness MOTs to support older adults in staying active, independent, and confident.

The Functional Fitness MOT (FFMOT), developed by Later Life Training, is designed to raise awareness of the importance of staying active for people aged 50–90 who are living independently.
It provides a simple assessment of key areas of fitness—such as stamina, strength, balance, and flexibility—helping you understand your current ability and see how your fitness compares to those of a similar age and sex.
The assessments last around 45 minutes to an hour and are 1 to 1 or can be booked as a couple. Pre-booking is essential. There are 6 slots available during a Saturday once a month.
How it supports you
The FFMOT isn’t just about testing—it’s about helping you stay active and independent. Following the assessment, a trained professional will have a supportive, one-to-one conversation to:
By increasing physical activity, the FFMOT can help you better manage both your physical and mental health, supporting a more active, confident, and independent lifestyle.

Every Thursday, 12:15pm – 1:15pm @ Sharnford Youth and Community Hall
Sit to Stand is a friendly, supportive class designed for anyone looking to improve their strength, balance, and confidence. It’s ideal for beginners or those returning to exercise after a break.
Using resistance bands and chair-based exercises, the class focuses on building strength in the legs and upper body to help make everyday movements — such as standing up and walking — feel easier and make you feel more confident and steady on your feet.
As your strength improves, we gradually introduce standing exercises using the chair for support to safely challenge and improve balance.
This class is a great stepping stone towards the Steady Steps fall prevention programme or progressing to a higher-impact fitness class.
The session includes:

A 12-Week Strength, Mobility and Confidence Programme
Learn to Love the Floor is a progressive 12-week programme designed to help participants build strength, improve mobility, and gain the confidence to safely get down to the floor and back up again. Through a combination of seated, standing and floor-based exercises, participants develop the strength, balance, flexibility and coordination needed for everyday activities and greater independence.
